Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Lead Cook to prepare meals for residents with attention to dietary needs and approved menus. You will supervise dietary staff in the absence of leadership and assist in training new employees, ensuring a smooth operation of the kitchen.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, proven cooking experience—preferably in senior living— and Serv-Safe certification or willingness to obtain it within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience as a cook, preferably in senior living for fine dining.
• Leadership experience.
• Must be Serv-Safe certified, or be willing to complete certification within 60 days of hire.
• Must have a basic understanding of food service operations and procedures.
• Ability to read, write, and do simple calculations.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule incl. evenings, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Assist in supervising dietary staff and training new staff.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety procedures.
• Monitor temperatures and ensure proper cooling, storage, and dating of food.
• Observe sanitation and safety standards in handling food and equipment.
• Assist in menu substitutions with approval of Dining Services Director.
• Oversee kitchen readiness for meal service and post-shift turnover.
