Job summary

The Salvation Army, Clitheroe Center in Anchorage, AK, seeks a Lead Cook to oversee kitchen operations for a 42-bed residential facility serving clients, staff, and guests.

You will prepare nutritious meals per a rotating menu, address dietary needs, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure compliance with food safety procedures. A high school diploma and 3 years’ cooking experience are required; certification training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years’ experience as a cook, including institutional setting.
• Willingness to obtain Food Handlers Card and Serv-Safe within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Directs other kitchen staff in day-to-day activities.
• Prepares and serves nutritious meals per planned menu, including special dietary needs.
• Follows maintenance procedures and reports equipment issues.
• Solicits donations from businesses and food banks as needed.
• Rotates stock and maintains inventory levels.
• Orders stock to maintain inventory levels.
• Follows food service procedures and safety regulations.
• Develops nutritionally appropriate rotating menu meeting USDA guidelines.
• Keeps kitchen clean and organized.
• Assumes full responsibility when Operations Manager is unavailable.
• Attends staff meetings and completes required training.
