Job summary

The Kirkwood Community College Center for Hospitality Excellence seeks a Lead Cook II to prepare, season, and cook soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts for fine dining and banquet events. You will coordinate and direct a staff of cooks and serve as a trainer for students in Kirkwood's Hotel and Hospitality programs.

The role requires inspecting kitchen areas for health and safety, substituting for other cooks during peaks, and acting as kitchen manager in the absence of the Chef.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent required.
• Commercial kitchen experience or culinary education.

Responsibilities

• Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure health code compliance.
• Wash, peel, cut, and prep fruits and vegetables.
• Prepare, season, and cook soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, or other foods for patrons and banquets.
• Demonstrate all proficiencies required in a Line Cook II position.
• Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
• Act as manager of the kitchen in the absence of the Chef or Sous Chef.
• Ensure utensils and equipment are clean and sanitary.
