Job summary

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook for Jackson County Jail in Jackson, MI. This role leads daily kitchen operations and supervises inmates to ensure meals meet our standards in a controlled, correctional environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, can lift up to 50 pounds, and is available weekends and holidays. Training is provided to the right candidate, supporting a dependable food service team.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively in a structured correctional environment.
• Must successfully obtain clearance to work within the facility.
• Willingness to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and assist inmates with kitchen duties.
• Prepare, cook, and bake meals according to company recipes.
• Assist with daily meal preparation and food service operations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
• Follow company policies, food safety standards, and facility procedures.
• Support the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and on schedule.
