Job summary

Crescent Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Lead Cook for the Holiday Inn San Jose Silicon Valley. You will be the heartbeat of the kitchen, leading by example and ensuring every dish meets quality standards while managing storage and preparation in line with our procedures.

You will train and coach staff, oversee safety compliance, and coordinate with the culinary team to ensure smooth service. This role emphasizes teamwork, consistency, and delivering great guest experiences daily.

Responsibilities

• Assist with training, evaluating, resolving problems and coaching employees.

• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
• Set daily priorities and assign tasks to staff.
• Review banquet orders and note changes.
• Monitor inventory and communicate shortages.
• Communicate with culinary team for smooth service.
• Adhere to attendance rules and be available regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Here is what you will be doing each day:

As our Lead Cook at the Holiday Inn San Jose Silicon Valley, you will be the heartbeat of the kitchen. You will lead by example, keeping the team moving and making sure that every dish that leaves the kitchen is made with quality and care. You will bring our menu to life while ensuring preparation of all menu items and proper handling/storage of all food items are aligned with our standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with training, evaluating, resolving problems/counseling, motivating, coaching employees and providing open communication.
• Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to managers; complete safety training and certifications.
• Maintain knowledge of recipe and preparation required in accordance with the hotel standards.
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
• Establish the day's priorities and assign production and preparation tasks for staff to execute.
• Review banquet event orders and make note of any changes.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages.
• Communicate effectively with the culinary team to ensure smooth service
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
