Job summary

Ajax Building Company, part of the STO Building Group, seeks a hands-on Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations, manage craft and subcontractor teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to high client standards. Travel to various project sites is required.

The role reports to the General Superintendent and emphasizes directing field activities, adhering to safety policies, and maintaining project productivity on complex, justice-focused facilities.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years supervisory experience in construction.
• Lead Superintendent on ground-up correctional facilities experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Active/Occupied Public Safety / Correctional project experience.
• Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills.
• Thorough knowledge and exposure within prison systems as field supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, evaluate and terminate craft personnel per company policies.
• Supervise craft personnel and contractors to meet design, budget and schedule.
• Assist management with drawing interpretations and construction method recommendations.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed on all sites.
• Promote productivity and a safe work environment on projects.
• Coordinate on-site functions and supervise subcontractors as required.
• Provide technical assistance and interpret drawings for field teams.
• Ensure compliance with project procedures and safety programs.
