Job summary

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking a Construction GIS Technician to lead and manage the district's GIS program, ensuring data accuracy and project readiness. You will oversee the roadside asset database, develop tools, coordinate the maintenance diary system, and set up construction projects within ArcGIS.

You will also assist with field operations including construction inspection, surveying, and material testing, and pursue a drone pilot license for aerial measurements

Qualifications

Six years of related work experience or college-level coursework/degree in engineering or a related field.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
Ability to travel to project locations with a valid North Dakota Class D license.
Interest in construction and engineering.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the district GIS program and oversee the roadside asset database.
Develop and administer new database tools and coordinate the maintenance diary system.
Set up construction projects within ArcGIS and support additional GIS initiatives.
Assist with construction inspection, survey activities, and material testing for field operations.
Obtain and apply drone pilot license for stockpile measurements, project reconnaissance, and aerial documentation.
Manage culvert inspection, billboard inspection, and overhead clearance datasets to support decisions.
