NDDOT Starting Salary: $5,699/ month
We are seeking a candidate with a passion for construction and engineering, who enjoys working outdoors and has a strong understanding of technology to fill our role as a Construction GIS Technician.
This position is responsible for leading and managing the district's GIS program. The new team member will oversee all aspects of our GIS operations, including maintaining and enhancing the roadside asset database, developing and administering new database tools, coordinating the maintenance diary system, and setting up construction projects within ArcGIS. The role will also support a variety of additional GIS initiatives as they arise, ensuring data accuracy, usability, and alignment with district needs.
Other duties include assisting with construction inspection, survey activities, and material testing to support field operations. The position will be required to obtain a drone pilot's license, training and testing are provided by the department, and will use drone technology for stockpile measurements, project reconnaissance, and aerial documentation.
Additional responsibilities include managing the district's culvert inspection program, billboard inspection program, and overhead clearance assessments, ensuring these datasets remain up-to-date and support operational decision-making.
To be considered for a Construction GIS Technician, you must have at least six years of work experience related to the duties listed. College-level coursework and/or degree in an engineering or related field reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis. Materials testing is preferred.
You will need to be able to carry several items with a total weight of 50 pounds and have a valid North Dakota Class D driver's license in order to travel to project locations.
