Job summary

canyoncontracting is seeking a seasoned Job Superintendent to oversee multiple concrete projects, coordinate tasks, scheduling, and manpower, and ensure safe, efficient workplaces. You will manage daily site activities, review plans, and communicate progress to leadership.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in concrete construction, strong leadership, excellent communication, and OSHA 30 (CPR required). Bilingual EN/ES is a plus for this role at our Virginia sites.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in the concrete construction industry.
• Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
• CPR required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a PLUS.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with General Superintendent/Field Superintendent and/or Project Manager to schedule job tasks and equipment.
• Coordinate daily tasks and schedules with the Foreman according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel.
• Provide updates to the Field Superintendent and Canyon Management on project status and needs at the job site.
• Review proposals, scope of work, schedule and durations; review drawings, RFIs/ASIs, and shop drawings.
• Review Surveyors layout and Canyon’s layout for consistency and identify issues.
• Submit Daily Reports and enter information into Canyon system.
• Develop and present a two-week look ahead for the project at weekly meetings.
• Place material orders and manage slab and other packages.
• Submit paperwork for delivery tickets with cost coding daily.
• Maintain truck maintenance and tool inventory; coordinate repairs.
• Lead weekly safety toolbox talks focusing on site safety and safe tool use.
• Hold daily huddles with safety and operations reviews.
• Attend Foreman meetings and contribute to scheduling decisions.
• Develop safety/quality standards on site.
• Perform pre-pour checklist.
• Resolve project/material/employee issues promptly.
• Resolve on-site conflicts quickly and amicably.
• Attend monthly production meetings with leadership to review progress.
• Build relationships with customers and identify opportunities for growth.
• Performs other related duties as needed.
