Job summary

Lake Huron Medical Center, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks a Compounding Pharmacy Technician Lead to support the pharmacy department under a licensed pharmacist. This role emphasizes compounding duties, IV work processes, and compliance with USP 795/797/800 standards.

The position requires five years of hospital pharmacy technician experience, PTCB certification, a state license, and CSPT or equivalent certification. Responsibilities include inventory oversight and staff training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years current hospital pharmacy technician experience required.
• PTCB certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire date.
• State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations).
• Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) or equivalent compounding certification required (or agreement to obtain within 6 months).
• Proficiency with various computer systems, EHR, ADS, and drug preparation or delivery systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in compounding activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Maintain compounding and batch compliance records; oversee IV work process.
• Orient and train all compounding personnel as required; oversee inventory and stock supplies.
• Oversee compounding areas including hazardous and non-hazardous, sterile and non-sterile.
• Assist in general technician staffing duties including patient records, setup and labeling of medication doses.
