Job summary

Mercury Systems invites an experienced Components Engineer to lead parts and materials engineering across space and terrestrial programs. You will drive component reviews, assess program compliance, and collaborate across customers, government agencies, and suppliers to resolve supply chain issues.

Your role includes selecting and standardizing parts, preparing drawings and verification data, and guiding NSMAR/NSPAR processes while supporting MRB reviews and risk delineation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant defense/electronics experience or 5 years plus a master's degree.
  • Experience as a lead component engineer on defense/aerospace/space programs.
  • Knowledge of military/industry specs and standards (MIL, ASTM, AEC, ESA, NASA).
  • Experience with electronic fabrication techniques (SMT, chip and wire, hybrids).
  • Experience with electronic circuit card assemblies design/manufacture.
  • Experience with NSMAR/NSPAR processes.
  • Familiar with MIL-STD-883 environmental testing and MIL-PRF-38534/38535 and passive components.
  • Excellent written/spoken communication; able to work remotely as part of a team.
  • Active US DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain; US citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EEEE parts or materials and processes engineer on space and terrestrial programs.
  • Lead component reviews, analysis, and assessment for program compliance.
  • Collaborate with customer, government agencies, and cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain issues.
  • Determine environmental/characteristic application requirements from SOWs.
  • Provide guidance on parts selection and standardization respecting constraints.
  • Generate and revise component drawings and verification data packages.
  • Review reliability data and support MRB adjudication.
  • Conduct alternate part investigations and comparison matrices.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to define component risk and verification.
  • Support BOM creation and library applications; coordinate program weaponization.
