Job summary

Maryland Department of the Environment seeks a Section Head for the Baltimore region in the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. You will supervise Environmental Compliance Specialists, train and mentor staff, and review lead enforcement cases before chief-level review.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience performing environmental regulatory compliance work across water pollution control, wetlands, storm water, air quality, and waste management.
• Notes describe substitutions: credit hours or degree alternatives for required experience.
• Experience leading environmental compliance staff and managing enforcement actions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspections site visits and training Environmental Compliance Specialists in investigative techniques and inspection procedures.
• Reviews enforcement files and approves notices of non‑compliance, orders, or closure recommendations before forwarding to Division Chief.
• Drafts correspondence and communications to regulated entities, agencies, and the public.
• Oversees Baltimore Region program activities and generates monthly/quarterly reports for leadership and medical case management.
• Manages personnel processes including hiring, reclassification, development, timekeeping, and performance appraisal.
