Job summary

HARTING USA, a subsidiary of HARTING Technology Group, seeks a Lead Compliance Engineer to own and drive compliance activities across products and solutions. You will guide design and development teams, perform risk analyses, and drive submittals to regulatory bodies.

You will lead an international team across Americas, Europe and APAC, balance project work and leadership, and build comprehensive compliance programs, documentation, and training.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years in project management and leadership, ideally international.
  • 5+ years UL regulatory compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of UL, CSA, CE requirements and processes.
  • Knowledge of DNV, ATEX and BIS requirements and processes preferred.
  • Experience certifying new products.
  • Experience interacting with customers, regulatory agencies, test labs, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of UL1977, UL2875, UL1682, UL508, UL817 is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate an international compliance team (Americas, Europe and APAC).
  • Manage and deliver compliance projects with a 60/40 split between projects and leadership.
  • Develop and execute compliance programs; complete documentation.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies to address questions and issues.
  • Analyze new product constructions for compliance risk.
  • Identify applicable standards for products and oversee submittals.
  • Organize programs with timetables, cost estimates, and resources.
  • Document compliance via approvals, test results, reports, and Declarations of Conformity.
  • Track emerging practices and maintain professional networks.
  • Perform additional duties per customer requirements.

We are seeking a Lead Compliance Engineer to join our growing Product Development department. The primary responsibility is to own and drive compliance activities on a wide-variety of HARTING related products and solutions. The Compliance Engineer will work with the design, development, and innovation teams to understand the appropriate standards and requirements as well as perform risk analysis on proposed designs and drive the submittal process at the appropriate regulatory body.

HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives.

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:
  • Lead and motivate an international compliance team (covering Americas, Europe and APAC) ensuring effective collaboration and high performance
  • Manage and deliver compliance projects, balancing project work and leadership responsibilities (60% Projects / 40% Leadership)
  • Achieve product and engineering compliance by developing and executing compliance programs and completing documentation.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies to facilitate projects, track changes, address compliance questions and issues.
  • Analyze and evaluate new product constructions for compliance risks within the appropriate standard(s).
  • Be responsible for interfacing with regulatory agencies to understand what standards apply to what products.
  • Research, identify, and develop expertise on applicable regulatory and industry compliance standards and codes.
  • Organize compliance programs by preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources, including test laboratories and equipment.
  • Document compliance by completing approval applications, recording test results, preparing investigative reports, preparing and filing Declarations of Conformity, and maintaining compliance database.
  • Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging compliance engineering practices and standards, participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.
  • Other duties and ad hoc projects may be assigned as customer requirements dictate some of the day-to-day activities of this role and the team.
Skills and experience to thrive in this role:
  • BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field.
  • 3+ years experience of Project Management and Leadership responsibilities, ideally with an international context
  • 5+ years UL regulatory compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of UL, CSA, CE requirements and processes.
  • Knowledge of DNV, ATEX and BIS requirements and processes preferred
  • Experience certifying new products.

HARTING USA offers an attractive total compensation package and employee benefits, including:
Compensation:
  • HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
  • Competitive base salary: $110,000 - $130,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location).
  • This role is eligible for a 5% discretionary annual bonus.
  • 21 days PTO (Paid Time Off) to start – quickly earn more PTO as you stick with us (36 days max).
