Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA seeks a Lead Compensation Analyst to oversee day‑to‑day compensation administration and partner with Total Rewards. The role drives pay equity, position management, and audit readiness across seasonal and off‑cycle processes.

The successful candidate will guide a compensation team, manage complex projects, and ensure compliance with healthcare pay practices and organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, accounting, HR, or related field.
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in HR or accounting; compensation, HRIS, and report writing experience required.
  • Healthcare experience and CCP/SHRM-CP/SCP certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leads as the primary compensation point‑of‑contact and facilitates peer training as it pertains to compensation projects.
  • Organizes day-to-day operations of the HR compensation team.
  • Schedules the compensation team’s in-person meetings with Key Leadership, VPs, and Directors to discuss annual market changes.
  • Meets routinely with Benefits Lead and the Payroll Manager to organize shared projects.
  • Coordinates the compensation team workflows with annual increases, offer quotes, job placement, the job description database, variable compensation, bonus programs, and related goal tracking metrics.
  • Takes point with the team on their analysis, data collection, and document review for major compensation and Total Rewards events.
  • Reviews and responds to pay rate and/or position appeals that are escalated from HR colleagues, managers, directors, or VPs, and will organize any escalations that require a formal response from the HR Admin Director, and/or VP of HR.
  • Audits the FLSA classifications for compliance and supports compensation and HR Division colleagues with staying informed of any future changes to regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in the analysis, data collection, and document review for major total rewards events, including regulatory changes, platform migration, policy and pay practice amendments, total rewards statements, compensation surveys, or other similar projects and activities as needed.
  • Submits compensation surveys and supports benefits and organizational benchmarking surveys.
  • Collaborates with professional service providers engaged for compensation administration: Thirdparty administrator, consultant, actuary, custodian, and legal.
  • Addresses any complex vendor and integration issues that impact compensation initiatives.
  • Guides the team with position audits to ensure the HRIS is offering the correct eligibility and pay.
  • Takes point on compensation compliance filings and regulatory reporting.
  • Reviews and updates compensation policies in Policy Manager.
  • Contributes to compensation policy documents, leadership presentations, and board materials.
  • Approves compensation invoices and provides summaries to the Admin Dir. HR for budget keeping.
  • Helps with the development of the timelines and trackers for Total Rewards projects and processes.
  • Updates training materials, guides, or policies as it pertains to each assigned project.

The Lead Compensation Analyst is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day aspects of the compensation administration. This role requires an understanding of compensation and payroll procedures, a willingness to partner with Total Rewards compensation and benefits teammates to accomplish shared initiatives, and capability of solving complex problems. This includes devising creative solutions for future compensation programs, cultivating short-term and long-term strategic roadmaps, and reviewing existing processes with a fresh perspective. The Lead Compensation Analyst plays a pivotal role in guiding the compensation team towards successful outcomes with position management, pay equity, and structures. The Lead Compensation Analyst organizes the compensation team’s work for any seasonal and/or off-cycle audits, payroll processes, benchmarking, surveys, and conducts routine audits to ensure the pay practices are compliant with the organization’s compensation policies and healthcare industry best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, HR management, or equivalent related experience.
  • 3 - 5 years minimum experience in human resources or accounting. compensation, HRIS, and report writing experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Healthcare compensation and finance experience preferred.
  • CCP, SHRM-CP/SCP or equivalent certification
  • Experience working in a healthcare industry and/or similarly complex environment.
