Job summary

Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York's Suffolk County is seeking a Lead Community Energy Advisor to lead the Energy Advisor Team, recruit and train CEA’s, and manage caseloads while coordinating with supervisors on program delivery.

The role focuses on educating residents, multifamily owners, and small businesses in energy efficiency and clean energy, prioritizing low-to-moderate income communities, and building partnerships with local stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Experience teaching non-formal educational programs, preferably energy-related.
• Experience in housing/energy assistance social work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven ability to build relationships with diverse audiences and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel and pass background checks and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Program Development – assist in making programmatic changes based on evaluation outcomes and local priorities.
• Program Delivery – use workshops, public events, articles, web pages and social media to deliver programs.
• Represent the Energy Team to the public and community leaders in a professional manner.
• Adapt materials to create lesson plans that meet local community needs and diverse audiences.
• Maintain linkages with Cornell and partner institutions for program delivery.
• Engage volunteers and interns in program delivery.
• Serve as subject matter resource on energy efficiency and respond to questions.
• Supervise interns and volunteers and coordinate with the Energy Team.
• Program Evaluation – collect evaluation data and analyze results for program improvement.
• Communicate evaluation findings and recommend changes to strengthen programs.
