Job summary

UL Solutions in the United States is seeking a commissioning manager/engineer to lead the commissioning of new construction, renovations, and existing building projects. You will ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems meet OPR/BOD and codes, while driving testing and performance verification.

The role requires strong project leadership, design review, and hands-on testing expertise, with travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
• 5+ years of commissioning, MEP engineering.
• Industry certifications (preferred): CxA/CBCP/CCP or similar.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, BAS/controls, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, sequences of operations.
• Experience leading functional performance testing and troubleshooting building systems.
• Strong writing, PM, and client-facing communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning projects for multiple projects simultaneously.
• Develop and maintain commissioning plans, schedules and logs.
• Facilitate kick-off meetings, design reviews, and functional testing.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, TAB firms, and controls vendors.
• Witness startup activities, TAB verification, controls integration, and testing.
• Prepare commissioning reports and closeout documentation.
• Provide executive-level updates on status and metrics.
• Support owner turnover and occupancy readiness.
