Job summary

Columbia Bank is seeking a 1st VP, Commercial Credit Officer to lead credit policy development and risk management, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with strategic goals. The role oversees a team of managers and analysts, guiding credit analysis quality and underwriting standards.

You will drive process improvements, oversee risk assessment, and report to senior management and the board. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or other related field is required.
• Minimum of 15 years experience in Commercial Credit, preferably with lending authority.
• Minimum of 7 years leadership experience.
• Working knowledge and understanding of commercial loan products, policies, procedures and federal regulations.
• Strong aptitude for figures and accuracy.
• Proven problem solving, decision making, underwriting and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of applied accounting and finance concepts as well as proficiency in performing detailed financial analyses.
• Ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently under time constraints.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with good organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including MS Office applications and other specialized credit analysis and lending software.

Responsibilities

• Credit Team Management: Manage credit analysis functions pertaining to the underwriting and approval of Commercial Loans.
• Monitors and manages the underwriting pipeline, ensuring turnaround time meets senior management expectations, complies with regulatory timelines and enhances the overall client experience.
• Exercises the usual authority of a manager including supervising, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, salary recommendations and disciplinary actions.
• Demonstrates a commitment and responsibility to Equal Employment and Affirmative Action planning. Resolves any unusual problems.
