Job summary

Gridware, a San Francisco-based technology company pioneering active grid management, seeks a senior in-house attorney to lead the commercial counsel function. You will negotiate master agreements with utility customers, advise on data privacy and product development, and collaborate across Engineering, GTM, and Legal teams to enable rapid, compliant deals.

The role requires an attorney with a strong track record in complex, high-value commercial agreements, international experience, and the

Qualifications

Member of a US State Bar.
J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
7+ years of experience as lead attorney on complex commercial agreements.
Proven ability to run large, multi-workstream negotiations.
Experience working with outside counsel in international contexts.
Experience building or improving contract templates and playbooks.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end negotiations of master agreements with utility customers, including large investor-owned utilities, public power, and international utilities.
Serve as the primary legal point of contact for the GTM team; partner with GTM leadership and account executives to structure terms, manage risk, and close deals.
Own and refine contract templates, fallback positions, and negotiation playbooks to improve consistency and speed.
Advise on data ownership, privacy, and security in commercial agreements and product development with Engineering and InfoSec.
Provide product counseling on new products with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, GTM, Data Science, Customer Support, Product Marketing).
Advise on international deals and select/manage local counsel; own broader commercial contracting function including vendor and partnership agreements.
