Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Manager for commercial construction in the Kansas City area. You will lead projects from preconstruction to closeout, coordinating clients, subcontractors, vendors, and design teams to meet safety, schedule, budget, and quality goals.

You will manage budgets, develop schedules, and drive proactive problem solving while maintaining strong client relationships and professional communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of project management experience in commercial construction.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
• Proven experience managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and overall project financials.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope, budgets, drawings, specifications, and contract documents during preconstruction.
• Prepare and distribute comprehensive bid packages to subcontractors and vendors.
• Analyze and qualify subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Conduct project buyout activities and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
• Select subcontractors and vendors based on project scope, qualifications, and performance history.
• Review and negotiate subcontractor and vendor contracts to secure favorable and fair terms.
• Issue Notices to Proceed and coordinate timely contract execution.
• Procure materials and verify long-lead items to maintain and protect project schedules.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules that reflect milestones, critical paths, and resource needs.
