Job summary

Alfred University in Western New York seeks a Head Strength and Conditioning Coach to design and implement year-round, sport-specific training for intercollegiate programs serving about 600 student-athletes. You will lead, mentor, and supervise staff while collaborating with coaches and athletic trainers to meet team goals.

The role oversees the Strength & Conditioning Center operations, budget, equipment, and scheduling, with a focus on safety, injury prevention, and performance enhancement

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in exercise science or related field
• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field
• National strength and conditioning cert. (NSCA-CSCS/CSCCa/USAW) with CSCS preferred
• Three+ years collegiate strength and conditioning experience
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification by start date
• Ability to teach, lead, and counsel college student-athletes
• Integrity, high ethical standards, and strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of NCAA DIII rules and strength/conditioning tech

Responsibilities

• Supervise part-time staff, graduate assistants, and student workers
• Consult with head coaches to determine team conditioning needs
• Design and implement sport-specific training programs
• Use tech to track workouts and progress
• Emphasize injury prevention and performance enhancement
• Collaborate with athletic trainers on injury prevention and return-to-play
• Educate student-athletes on nutrition, sleep, and recovery
• Maintain safe, professional conditioning center environment
• Oversee facility maintenance and operations
• Manage department initiatives and AU social media
