Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Anchorage seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You’ll plan hold points, verify surface preparation, application and cure, perform adhesion and holiday tests, and write reports for owners and engineers.

AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification is required, with 2+ years of inspection under it. Knowledge of SSPC/NACE standards and coatings systems is essential.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification is required, current, with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Command of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Able to stop an application that is out of specification and document it so it closes.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and the manufacturer's data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
