Job description

Steel City FC is Pittsburgh’s competitive youth soccer club, built around a clear identity: Dominant. Assertive. Connected. We develop players who compete at a high level and leave our program ready for the next challenge — on and off the field. Our Girls Classic Phase is one of the most important stages in that pathway, and we take seriously the quality of coaching we put in front of our players.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a driven, up-and-coming coach to lead within our U15–U19 Girls program. This is a role for someone early in their coaching journey who brings energy, coachability, and the presence to lead older players with clarity and confidence. You’ll work within a three-person coaching team under the direction of the Phase Leader, with primary ownership of one team and shared responsibility across the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of the Phase Leader, delivering sessions aligned with the club’s curriculum and standards
  • Collaborate as part of a team of three coaches, ensuring consistency and shared ownership across the age group
  • Take primary responsibility for one team, including matchday leadership and communication
  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging training sessions
  • Lead team performance during games and events, supporting both development and competitiveness
  • Provide regular feedback on all players within the group, not just your assigned team
  • Review game film to identify suitable passages of play for the club’s content marketing team
  • Record KPI metrics during designated matches — in person or via Veo review — and submit observations to club staff as directed
  • Create a positive, challenging environment appropriate for U15–U19 players
  • Build strong relationships with players, parents, and fellow staff
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, communication, and organization
  • Uphold and deliver the club’s identity: Dominant, Assertive, Connected
Seasonal Schedule & Commitment
Fall Block — November–December (6 weeks)
  • 2 back-to-back sessions per night (~3 hours total)
  • 4 matches
Futsal Season — January–February (8 weeks)
  • 1 midweek training session per week
Spring Season — March–May
  • 2 training nights per week (back-to-back sessions)
What We’re Looking For
  • A motivated, up-and-coming coach who wants to grow within the game
  • Positive, energetic personality — someone players enjoy being around and respond to
  • Ability to connect with teenage players and hold a high-standard, respectful environment
  • Willingness to take feedback, implement it, and keep developing
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine team mentality
  • Flexible availability across evenings and weekends
  • U.S. Soccer D or E license preferred; SafeSport certified; background check required
What We Offer
  • Structured mentoring and on-the-job coach development from experienced staff
  • A clear pathway into higher-level coaching roles within the club
  • Access to our curriculum framework, session planning resources, and club tools (including Veo)
  • Opportunity to be part of a progressive, identity-driven girls program
  • Competitive match-day and session compensation
