Job summary

Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials Inc. in Reading, PA is seeking a CNC Advanced Machinist Lead to direct our Machining Center of Excellence.

You will plan daily workloads, program CNC machines, and mentor machinists to maintain high precision across complex parts. The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, process improvement, quality control, and collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to 5S and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience: minimum 5 years of CNC machining, including program writing, setup, and operation.
• Technical proficiency: SolidWorks and Mastercam; 5-axis programming capability.
• Hands-on: setup and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Inspection: strong understanding of drawings, tolerances, and manual inspection.
• Leadership: prior lead machinist or team leader experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Planning: organize daily machining activities, prioritize workloads, ensure efficient workflow.
• Decision-Making: use data and experience to make timely, informed production/quality decisions.
• Communication & Collaboration: coordinate with engineering, production, and quality teams.
• Continuous Improvement: identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste and cycle times.
• Safety & Compliance: promote a safety culture and adhere to policies.
• Programming & Operation: program CNC machines for new parts with high precision.
• Inspection & Quality Control: perform first-article and in-process inspections; edit programs as needed.
• Workflow Optimization: monitor orders to ensure on-time delivery and alignment with objectives.
• Systems & Documentation: use ERP to record job details, time, and production data.
• Team Support: lead with integrity and respect; support teammates in 5S and quality standards.
• Other Duties: perform additional machining or leadership tasks as assigned.
