Job summary

Dauch Corporation invites applications for a CNC Grinding Process Development Specialist to lead development and optimization of ID/OD grinding processes for precision components. The role is based in Detroit, MI within the Advanced Technology Development Center and reports to the Process Development/Prototype Machining Group in Driveline.

You will drive program development, gear grinding optimization, and process validation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ hands‑on experience in precision ID/OD grinding.
• Strong knowledge of CNC grinding equipment and grinding process development.
• Experience with grinding wheels, abrasives, dressing technologies, and coolant systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances and surface‑finish requirements.
• Experience troubleshooting grinding defects and process variation.
• Ability to use precision measurement equipment such as micrometers, air gauges, bore gauges, profilometers, and roundness/form measurement equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, quality, and production teams.
• Studer CNC Grind experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize ID and OD grinding processes for new and existing products.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels, abrasives, dressing systems, coolants, and workholding methods.
• Develop CNC grinding programs and optimize existing programs for quality and productivity.
• Conduct process trials, capability studies, and run‑at‑rate evaluations.
