Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Principal Software Engineer with deep Kubernetes and cloud-native expertise to lead the evolution of our managed services.

You will scale performance, security, and capabilities of our Kubernetes product and integrate open-source technologies to deliver simple, scalable cloud-native offerings. You will provide architectural oversight across teams, act as the technical authority for cloud-native initiatives, and drive standardization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience building and scaling managed services on Kubernetes.
• Expert knowledge of container runtimes and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Masters or PhD not required; proven leadership in cloud-native projects preferred.
• Strong collaboration across product, platform, and security teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide cross-team architectural oversight for cloud-native efforts.
• Act as technical authority for cloud-native initiatives and standardization.
• Partner with leadership to integrate diverse cloud-native technologies.
• Develop a unified strategy to deploy and operate cloud-native services.
• Mentor engineering teams and promote innovative technical standards.
