Job summary

Alameda Health System in San Leandro, CA is seeking a Clinical Nurse II—Internal Only. This per diem, very small FTE role provides comprehensive nursing care, medication administration, and coordination with physicians.

The CN II acts as team leader when assigned and may supervise staff to ensure quality patient care. The position requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, RN license in California, and up-to-date certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Six months experience as Clinical Nurse I with AHS or the equivalent of one year full-time recent experience at a comparable level in a minimum 100-bed hospital or in the area of specialty.

Responsibilities

• Accompanies, assists, and represents the needs of patients to other providers.
• Accurately provide care with respect to medication administration, skin and wound care, ADLs and other essential patient care activities.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and modifies the nursing care plan; prepares required records and reports.
• Gathers and assesses information about patients and consults with physicians for procedures and tests.
• Oversees telemetry staff; alerts nurse of rhythm changes and critical events.
• Leads the team as charge nurse when assigned; ensures quality of care.
• Promotes a healthful, safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families; infection control.
• Implements patient care standards and quality assurance; participates in studies and meetings.
• Monitors patient care standards and educates patients/families on care and disease prevention.
