Job summary

Pearson seeks a Lead Specialist, Learning Scientist (Clinical) to lead research across portfolio domains including academic achievement, speech and language, cognition, and early childhood assessment. You will translate scientific evidence into product priorities and help shape design and evaluation across disciplines.

You will report to the Lead Learning Scientist and may work remotely or at Pearson offices in San Antonio, TX, Bloomington, MN, or from a home base.

Qualifications

• PhD in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in speech, literacy, or early childhood.
• Clinical experience with standardized assessments.
• Strong knowledge of test development and psychometrics.
• Ability to translate evidence into strategic recommendations.
• Digital fluency and interest in AI applications.
• Scholarly contributions through conferences or publications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead research plans to support new product development.
• Provide subject-matter and scientific leadership in relevant domains.
• Define product scope and assessment design aligned with needs.
• Lead item development, review, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with psychometricians to review data.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI and emerging tech.
• Oversee assessment materials, interfaces, and scoring resources.
• Support product commercialization with scientific input.
• Represent Pearson in scientific leadership activities.
• Coordinate with international colleagues ~10% time.
