Job summary

University of Washington in Renton, WA is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician Lead to guide the Specimen Processing Services team. You will oversee pre-analytical handling, receive and process specimens, and mentor staff to ensure timely, accurate diagnostics.

The role emphasizes leadership, adherence to accreditation standards, and collaboration with hospital staff to support patient care.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

• Informs supervisor of operational status and personnel issues and provides leadership to SPS staff.
• Performs the work of CLT 1, CLT 2 and assigns, instructs, and reviews the work of others.
• Focus is pre-analytical handling and processing of patient specimens for diagnostic testing.
• Receives, processes and distributes routine and stat specimens for analytical testing.
• Operates laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and processing hoods.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and supports accreditation standards (JCAHO, CLIA, CAP).
