Job summary

UW Medicine in Renton, WA is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 for the Specimen Processing Services Team at the Renton Central Laboratory. You will support the diagnostic workflow by processing specimens, preparing reagents, and ensuring accurate data entry.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and 1 year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
• Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Sort and prioritize initial specimens and requests, receive specimens and match to requisitions.
• Prepare reagents, chemical solutions, culture media or cell cultures per procedures.
• Operate laboratory equipment (balances, microscopes, spectrophotometers, pH meters, autoclaves, centrifuges).
• Centrifuge and aliquot appropriate specimen type and quantity as ordered.
• Assist in orientation, training and support of new employees.
• Refer testing to other laboratories as needed.
• Maintain complete, accurate records.
• Answer telephones and receptionist inquiries professionally.
• Perform data entry of patient information and tests requested.
• Respond to inquiries concerning patient lab values and procedures.
• Resolve specimen or order-related problems.
• Attend staff meetings and promote teamwork.
• Complete compliance, safety and training for job functions.
• Perform the work of a Clinical Laboratory Assistant.
