Job summary

Metro Associates in Pittsburgh seeks an experienced Civil/Environmental Engineer (P.E.) to lead sanitary and municipal projects for public and private clients. You will oversee planning, design, and construction, with responsibility for feasibility studies, design calculations, and permitting.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in sanitary/municipal engineering, PA licensure or reciprocity, and strong skills in AutoCAD, EPA-SWMM, and related software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain PA licensure.
• Approximately 5–10 years of experience in sanitary and municipal engineering.
• Experience with wastewater collection systems, conveyance infrastructure, pump stations, and facilities.
• Familiarity with Pennsylvania environmental regulations and municipal practices.
• Experience with erosion and sediment control and BMPs.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, EPA-SWMM, StormCAD, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Act as the lead engineer on sanitary and municipal projects throughout planning, design, and construction.
• Develop feasibility studies, engineering reports, planning documents, and analyses.
• Design wastewater collection and conveyance systems, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
• Perform hydraulic modeling, engineering calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies and support environmental permitting.
• Manage projects through bidding and provide construction administration.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and maintain client relationships.
• Communicate effectively with clients, municipalities, contractors, and agencies.
