Job summary

Apex Companies’ Forsgren office in Boise, Idaho is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of civil projects for public and private clients across Idaho.

This role requires strong technical design experience, the ability to manage multiple projects, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with teams spanning transportation, water resources, environmental, and geotechnical disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE license in Idaho, or ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire.
• 5+ years of consulting engineering experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
• Experience preparing engineering plans and specifications for civil infrastructure and site development projects.
• Strong understanding of grading design, utility layout, stormwater management, drainage systems, and applicable engineering standards.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering projects through design and construction.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and engineering design software.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documents.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead civil engineer for site development and infrastructure projects from planning through final design and construction support.
• Prepare, review, and oversee engineering calculations, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
• Design and coordinate grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility systems, roadway improvements, and site development infrastructure.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater management and detention systems.
• Develop construction documents utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software.
• Coordinate project deliverables with survey, environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources teams.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and technical quality; ensure client satisfaction.
• QA/QC reviews of engineering plans, calculations, and documents.
• Support permitting with municipalities, regulatory agencies, and utilities.
• Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide construction phase support.
• Mentor junior engineers and design staff.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain effective client communication.
• Support proposal preparation and technical interviews as needed.
