Job summary

Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS seeks an experienced Lead Engineer/Project Manager to guide major capital projects from planning through closeout. You will manage scope, budget, and schedules while leading engineers and PMs, reviewing plans, and enforcing quality controls.

The ideal candidate possesses a civil engineering or construction management degree, PE or CAPM certification, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or related field.
• 6 years of experience as a PE or CAPM or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects through planning, design, construction, and closeout.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and project managers.
• Develop scopes of work and review proposals, plans, specs, and construction documents.
• Evaluate projects for constructability, quality, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
• Assist with project budgets, cost estimates, financial reporting, and risk assessment.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, inspectors, Procurement, and Public Works divisions.
• Monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Identify and resolve design and construction issues.
• Participate in inspections, punch lists, and final closeout.
• Review as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and project documentation.
