Job summary

ACT Engineers, Inc. is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer/Project Lead in New Jersey to own civil site development projects from concept through construction. You will work directly with clients and municipalities, guiding design decisions alongside senior leadership.

The role requires PE in NJ (5–10 years) or EIT with 3–5 years and willingness to obtain licensure in PA and other states. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project proposals, including technical scopes of work and fee estimates
• Lead design and manage multiple civil engineering projects, including budgets, timelines, and staff
• Direct site engineering, stormwater management, utility, and wastewater design
• Develop stormwater management designs in line with standards and ordinances
• Apply Civil 3D for design oversight and drawing development
• Manage construction plan preparations, specs, and reports
• Oversee land use entitlement applications and agency submittals
• Navigate land use and coastal permitting across the mid-Atlantic region
• Contribute to coastal resiliency design work as opportunities arise
• Prepare and manage construction bid documents and inspection oversight
• Serve as primary client contact, lead meetings, and adapt projects to client needs
• Represent ACT before boards and agencies
• Mentor junior staff and interns
• Occasional travel to project sites and meetings
