Job summary

The Global Edge Consultants in Houston, TX is seeking a Lead Civil Designer to plan, develop, coordinate, and review civil design work. You will produce drawings, facilitate discussions, and prepare civil design estimates and work plans.

Requirements include 7+ years of relevant experience, 3D modelling of earthwork, drainage and roads, and proficiency with Civil3D or OpenRoads Designer. This is a 1-year rolling contract with onsite 40 hours per week near I-10 & Beltway 8.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Associates degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
• 3D modelling of site earthworks, drainage, roads.
• Proficient in Civil3D and/or OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs of civil materials.

Responsibilities

• Leads the work of civil designers and drafters on a project.
• Produces layouts, drawings, and detailed 2D/3D CAD models and construction drawings.
• Develops designs for earthwork, drainage and road systems with minimal supervision.
• Assists in constructing detailed scale models.
• Prepares material requisitions and bid evaluations.
• Monitors compliance with civil design standards and regulations.

Job description

Lead Civil Designer - Houston, TX

In this role, you will collaborate to plan, develop, coordinate, and review project civil design work. You will produce drawings, facilitate discussions, communicate complex technical issues, and prepare civil design estimates and work plan. Your recommendations will ensure designs and work plans are in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, regulations, and standards.

Major Responsibilities

• Leads the work of civil designers and drafters for a project to include the preparation of layouts, study
• drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings
• Develops designs for complete and complex civil engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage and road design with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed
• Assists in constructing detailed scale models
• Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations
• Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved civil design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy
• Participates in constructability reviews
• Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort
• Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents
• Reviews civil design scope changes, as required, for project management
• Ensures civil systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standard

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 7+ years of relevant experience or Associates degree and 10+ years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Experienced in 3D modelling of Site earthworks, drainage, roads, etc.
• Expert in use of Civil modelling software such as Civil3D and/or OpenRoads Designer
• Experience with preparing Quantity takeoffs of Civil materials

• Pay Range: $65-72/hr. (DOE)
