Job summary

This position is located with the Engineering and Watershed Construction Staff of the Texas State Office in Temple, Texas. The incumbent serves as the State Construction Engineer and advisor to the State Conservationist on all engineering phases of NRCS programs in the state.

As project engineer, you will supervise staff, oversee watershed construction projects, prepare designs and supporting documentation, and ensure adherence to policies, standards, and quality.

Qualifications

• US citizen or US national.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
• Subject to background investigation and/or fingerprint check.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project engineer and supervise a diverse staff for oversight of watershed construction projects.
• Prepare conservation practice designs and documentation for a variety of projects.
• Review engineering materials and adapt to local conditions and disseminate applicable data.
• Provide staff leadership in NRCS civil/agricultural engineering programs in the state.
• Establish tech policies and procedures for structural/mechanical practices for floodwater protection and water conservation.
