Job summary

Busch’s is seeking a Cheese Merchandiser to oversee the cheese department, lead a team of mongers, curate cheese selections, and design engaging displays for a premier grocery experience in Michigan.

Role requires certified cheese professional status, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of cheeses. You’ll coordinate with deli and grocery teams, educate customers, and ensure compliance with safety standards in a fast-paced family-owned operation.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Cheese Professional (CCP) from the American Cheese Society or an equivalent organization.
• Extensive knowledge of cheeses, including types, origins, and pairing options.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Exceptional merchandising skills to plan and execute displays.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, and email; able to learn proprietary applications.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of cheese mongers at multiple locations.
• Product Management: Curate and manage a diverse selection of local and artisanal cheeses.
• Merchandising Excellence: Design and implement eye-catching displays.
• Customer Engagement: Lead tastings and pairing education for customers.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure food safety and sanitation standards.
• Sales Analysis: Track sales, feedback, and market trends.
• Collaboration: Work with deli and grocery for cross-merchandising.
• Community Involvement: Represent the cheese department at events and markets.
• Professional Knowledge: Stay current with industry publications and training.
