Job summary

MU Health Care's Children’s Hospital – Maternal Newborn unit in Columbia, MO is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to influence care for mothers and newborns. You will assess patients, coordinate care, educate families, and lead nursing actions to ensure safety and high-quality outcomes.

The role requires Missouri RN licensure and at least 1 year of RN experience, with on-site weekend shifts and holiday rotations in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN.
• One year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical patient care within the scope of an RN, including assessment of condition and nursing actions.
• Assess, intervene, and reassess patient symptoms and pain using appropriate tools.
• Educates patients and their families about medications and care plans.
• Maintains nursing care standards and complies with MU Health Care policies.
• Coordinates admissions, transfers, and discharges; ensures smooth patient flow.
• Leads daily huddles and serves as a liaison with external departments to ensure operations.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and infection control practices.
• Acts as a resource for staff regarding clinical issues and patient-care decisions.
