Description
The Lead Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care in the clinic and related administrative duties. This role also supports the Medical Assistant team members and daily operations of the clinic. Ogi-Obstetrics, Gynecology & Infertility is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health).
Full-time position, Monday - Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, with one day a week closing at 8:30am to 5pm, located at Edina OGI Clinic. Flexibility to work at Edina and Maple Grove locations, with every 7th Saturday in Maple Grove (half day).
Essential Functions
- Oversee department daily operations and staff productivity; ensure excellent patient service and care delivery.
- Coordinate department work schedules, ensuring proper staffing, coverage for lunch, and overseeing breaks.
- Partner with supervisor to recognize, develop, and coach staff members.
- Train and assist Medical Assistants as needed.
- Maintain consistent training policies and processes.
- Participate in meetings and communication processes; share information timely and accurately.
- Act as a liaison between care teams and front desk with excellent communication.
- Verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm purpose of visit.
- Measure and document vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Obtain blood specimens via venipunctures and finger sticks.
- Perform in-house testing such as UA, Hemoglobin, glucose tests, and stool samples.
- Assist physicians and physician assistants in exam rooms.
- Provide patient instructions as directed by physicians or nurse practitioners.
- Ensure all reports, labs, and information are filed and available prior to appointments.
- Keep exam rooms stocked and maintain instruments and sterilization processes.
- Maintain logs and checks for equipment and medications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant or MLT program.
- AAMA or AMT certification; willingness to become certified if not already.
- At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting.
- Willing to train Medical Assistants who have completed their externship.
- X-ray license or willingness to obtain limited scope x-ray license for Bone Density scans (preferred).
