Job Description
Under direct clinical supervision of the on-site provider, assists in the delivery of patient care. Performs delegated medical tasks, assists providers and nursing staff with patient care, and may perform clerical duties. Utilizes the electronic medical record (EMR) for documentation. Access to medication storage areas and transportation of medications are required. Fully participates in daily operations and patient flow, acting as a resource for Medical Assistant I and II. Models teamwork, leadership, communication, accountability, customer service, and mastery of clinical skills.

Patient Experience
- Greets patients courteously, respectfully, and professionally at all times.
- Follows communication protocols, responds to questions/concerns/complaints, and pursues resolution and service recovery as needed.
Clinical Duties
- Gathers and documents patient history and chief complaint in the EMR, ensuring high-quality, compliant documentation. Acts as a clinical resource for team members.
- Follows practice workflows to ensure efficiency and timely patient service.
- Prepares patients for exams, performs and documents vital signs and risk screenings, reports abnormal findings, and assists providers with procedures.
- Performs routine clinical testing such as specimen collection, vision and hearing screenings, spirometry, EKG, and point-of-care tests, following protocols.
- Provides patient education materials as directed by the provider.
- Ensures equipment and environment are disinfected and ready for use, submits service tickets as needed.
- Orders and stocks clinical supplies, maintaining necessary inventory.
- Provides patient care tailored to specific populations, considering social determinants of health.
- Administers select medications and injections under supervision, assists with immunizations, and tracks data.
- Participates in patient outreach and care coordination activities.
- Engages in population health initiatives to improve outcomes.
- Completes medication and equipment prior authorizations independently.
- Works independently, serves as a resource, and mentors new team members.
Administrative Duties
- Obtains prior authorizations, performs benefit checks, and provides financial counseling as needed.
- Enhances patient experience by communicating delays and addressing barriers.
- Reviews and responds to business communications timely.
- Assists with template building, scheduling adherence, and compliance with regulations.
Additional Duties
- Participates in skill development, peer review, and training.
- Serves as a preceptor and process improvement team member.
- Contributes to practice operations, supply management, and safety initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
