Job Description
Under direct clinical supervision of the on-site provider, assists in the delivery of patient care. Performs delegated medical tasks, assists providers and nursing staff with patient care, and may perform clerical duties. Utilizes the electronic medical record (EMR) for documentation. Access to medication storage areas and transport of medications are required. Fully participates in daily operations and patient flow, acting as a resource for Medical Assistant I and II. Demonstrates teamwork, leadership, communication, accountability, customer service, and clinical mastery.

Patient Experience
- Greets patients courteously, respectfully, and professionally.
- Follows communication protocols, responds to questions/concerns, and pursues service recovery when needed.
Clinical Duties
- Gathers and documents patient history and chief complaint, ensuring high-quality EMR documentation. Acts as a clinical resource for colleagues.
- Follows practice workflows to ensure efficiency.
- Prepares patients for examinations, performs vital signs and risk screenings, reports abnormal findings, and assists with procedures.
- Performs routine clinical tests such as blood and urine specimens, vision and hearing tests, EKG, and point-of-care testing.
- Provides patient education materials as directed.
- Performs equipment disinfection, ensures equipment readiness, and reports maintenance needs.
- Orders supplies, stocks exam rooms, and maintains clinical environment.
- Provides patient care tailored to specific populations, considering social determinants of health.
- Administers select medications and injections under supervision, assists with immunization programs, and tracks data.
- Participates in patient outreach, follow-up, and care coordination activities.
- Engages in population health initiatives to improve outcomes.
- Completes prior authorizations and functions independently in various MA roles, including training and mentoring new staff.
Administrative Duties
- Obtains prior authorizations, performs benefit checks, and provides basic financial counseling.
- Enhances patient experience by communicating delays and addressing barriers.
- Reviews business communications promptly and adheres to workflows and policies.
- Supports practice management tasks such as template building and scheduling adherence.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains a safe environment.
- Familiarizes with EMR workflows related to registration, billing, and referrals.
Additional Duties
- Participates in skill development and training.
- Assists with peer review, serves as a preceptor, and contributes to process improvements.
- Participates in team meetings and shared governance.
- Contributes to practice operations like supplies and equipment management.
