Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care – Medical Center North Liberty is seeking a full-time Central Service Technician for a Monday–Friday 0700–1500 schedule with rotating weekends/holidays at the North Liberty Campus.

Responsibilities include leading CST staff, training, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining strict infection prevention practices. Requires CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification and 2+ years in sterile processing or related medical field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with science/maths courses.
• Certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM is required.
• Minimum two years in sterile processing or related medical field.

Responsibilities

• Lead CST team, assign duties, monitor competency.
• Train staff and document progress in training guides.
• Decontaminate, inspect, clean, and reassemble instruments and trays.
• Operate washers and sterilizers; follow infection prevention practices.
• Maintain PPE, safe chemical handling, and ergonomics.
• Manage inventory and coordinate with software for stock control.
