Qualifications

• Knowledge of names, uses, properties of medical supplies and equipment, and respond to inquiries.
• Knowledge of cleaning, decontaminating and sterilizing procedures.
• Knowledge of assembling, packaging and wrapping for sterilization.
• Knowledge of mechanical operation of sterilization equipment and staying current with tech changes.
• Knowledge of handling trays with sharp or delicate instruments safely.
• Ability to operate complex sterilization equipment.
• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Ability to follow safety policies and health precautions.
• Ability to read instructions and data indicators.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, inspects, cleans, sorts, disassembles and reassembles instrument trays and loads washers.
• Accesses reference materials, inspects instruments for function and cleanliness, labels and documents items.
• Performs sterilization, packaging inspection, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Assembles instrument trays within time frames and documents missing items.
• Monitors inventory, replenishes stock, and records usage in databases.
• Performs biological monitoring of sterilizers and preventative maintenance.
