General Summary & Scope
The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. The LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates, demonstrating the ability to proactively collaborate, lead, and influence peers. This role drives loyalty results, including credit, through performance, people, and process focus. The LC supports the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat in/outs, requiring a passion for guest experience, process excellence, and delivering results by engaging guests in our Loyalty Life Cycle.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
The LC performs duties aligned with Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, including:
Performance
- Contributing to store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
- Providing exceptional guest service, greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
- Handling sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
- Supporting guest makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
- Booking appointments and supporting in-store events to enhance guest experience and sales.
- Maintaining store standards at the cashwrap and replenishing displays and supplies.
- Maintaining consistent attendance.
People
- Supporting an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
- Completing cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
- Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services.
- Promoting the guest loyalty program and creating excitement around credit and loyalty goals.
- Training new cashiers and cross-training associates.
- Engaging and influencing peers to achieve performance goals.
- Driving cashier accountability and participating in ongoing training.
- Collaborating across store teams to grow the business.
Process
- Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
- Adhering to dress code.
- Completing all transactions accurately and safeguarding cash/media.
- Executing register functions as directed.
- Maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards.
- Executing operational tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma preferred.
Experience
- 2 years relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- Ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
- Knowledge and passion for guest service and sales.
- Experience addressing guest concerns professionally.
- Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
Skills
- Proficient with POS systems and technology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.

Special Position Requirements
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be 18 or older to hold this role.
