GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This position involves collaborating, leading, and influencing peers, driving loyalty results—including credit—through performance, people, and process. The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate inspections, and cashier chat ins/outs, focusing on delivering an exceptional guest experience and achieving store goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance

• Meet or exceed store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Provide exceptional service, engaging each guest and personalizing their experience, including recommending products and services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Support guest services such as makeup applications and product demonstrations to enhance sales and experience.
• Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience while meeting sales targets.
• Maintain the replenishment and organization of cashwrap displays and supplies.
• Maintain regular attendance.

People

• Create an inclusive environment supporting teammates and guests.
• Assist leadership with cashier chat ins/outs and associate inspections.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program and drive credit and loyalty goals.
• Train new cashiers and cross-train associates.
• Engage and influence peers to achieve peak performance.
• Deliver personalized experiences following Ulta Beauty’s systems and standards.
• Participate in ongoing training for professional development.
• Collaborate across the store to support business growth.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Complete all transactions accurately, including returns and media control.
• Perform register open/close functions as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and standards throughout the store.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to procedures.
• Execute additional operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
• Proven delegation, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for guest service and sales.
• Experience in addressing guest concerns professionally.
• Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
