GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in the training of new cashiers and cross-training of other associates. This role involves proactively collaborating, leading, and influencing peers. The Lead Cashier drives loyalty results, including credit, by focusing on performance (sales, guest experience, and loyalty), people (guest service, and associate training and development), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards, especially cashiering). They support the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, cashier chat ins/outs, and are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences and process excellence, contributing to store goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The LC embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing the following duties and responsibilities, along with any other assigned projects or tasks:

Performance

• Meet or exceed store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrinkage as set by Ulta Beauty.
• Provide exceptional guest service by greeting, engaging, personalizing, and recommending products and services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Assist guests with makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support the booking of appointments and execution of in-store events to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Maintain replenishment, organization, and readiness of cashwrap displays and supplies at all times.
• Ensure prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist leadership with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to guests and team members.
• Train new cashiers and cross-train other associates.
• Engage and influence peers to achieve peak productivity and performance.
• Drive accountability in delivering personalized Ulta Beauty experiences.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance professional development and sales performance.
• Collaborate with store teams to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code policies.
• Complete all transactions accurately, including returns and media control.
• Perform register opening and closing functions as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and standards, including at the cashwrap, salesfloor, and restrooms.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to operational procedures.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma preferred.

Experience: 2 years relevant work experience or equivalent; proven ability to delegate, multi-task, problem-solve; passion for guest service and sales; experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

Skills: Proficiency with POS systems and Apple devices; excellent communication; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in teams; relationship-building skills; adaptability under pressure.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Must be 18 or older to hold the Lead Cashier role.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility throughout the store, including bending, reaching, lifting up to 25 lbs., and other physical activities.
