Job summary

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group in the United States is seeking an On-Call Carpentry Technician (Stage Carpentry). This on-call position supports multiple show tracks, performs daily maintenance, inspections and training per the artistic schedule, and collaborates with other departments to meet daily show needs.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least one year as a professional stage carpenter, hands-on power and hand tool skills, and experience with run crews and cue

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience as a professional Stage Carpenter.
• Experience running show cue tracks and run crew work.
• Advanced power and hand tool skills.
• Experience with standard theatrical construction techniques.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Assets: basic mechanics/electricity/electronics, finish carpentry or scenic painting, welding certification, metal/woodworking, rigging, fall protection training.
• Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to perform essential functions (lifting up to 50 lbs, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Run cue tracks to position scenic elements and equipment for performances and maintenance.
• Maintain stage and backstage areas and inspect/repair stage equipment.
• Update maintenance and inspection records as directed.
• Maintain carpentry documentation related to equipment and tracks.
• Assist with inventory and communicate needs to the Lead.
• Participate in special projects and cross-departmental collaboration.
• Develop knowledge of carpentry equipment and operate safely.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and complete required safety training.
