Job summary

Crafted Staff in Shreveport, LA is seeking a hands-on Lead Hand / Lead Carpenter for custom home projects. You will coordinate day-to-day field work, lead a small crew, and ensure framing and finish carpentry meet high standards on residential builds.

This full-time role offers mentorship from the owner, stable work on quality custom homes, and competitive compensation in the $50k–$55k range plus benefits such as dental, health, vision, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in residential construction as a carpenter, lead carpenter, or lead hand.
• Strong knowledge of framing and finish carpentry.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small crew on-site.
• Ability to read plans, take measurements, and execute work with accuracy.
• Strong jobsite judgment: proactive problem-solving and quality mindset.
• Reliable, professional communication and ability to work with ownership.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead hands-on carpentry work across rough and finish carpentry on residential projects.
• Act as the on-site lead hand for carpentry activities: plan daily tasks, assign work, and keep the crew aligned with priorities.
• Read and work from residential plans and specifications to execute framing and finish details.
• Complete and oversee carpentry scopes such as framing, blocking, trim/finish work, and punch-list carpentry.
• Coordinate day-to-day with subcontractors and other trades to keep workflow moving.
• Maintain jobsite organization, material staging, and inventory awareness.
• Support quality control by catching issues early and protecting finished work.
• Promote and enforce jobsite safety practices and a clean work environment.
• Communicate progress and field needs clearly to owner/project leadership.
