Job summary

Villa Builders in Hughesville, MD is seeking a Lead Carpenter to drive quality in residential remodeling projects across Southern Maryland. You will take ownership in the field, read plans, and keep projects moving while mentoring teammates.

This full-time role offers a competitive hourly rate ($35-$40), PTO in year one, a company van, health insurance contribution and a path to grow into a stronger field leader.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional carpentry experience.
• Experience in residential remodeling or renovation.
• Able to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Comfortable leading field teams and working independently.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

The Role

As a Lead Carpenter, you will help keep projects moving and ensure work meets Villa Builders' quality standards. Project locations will vary throughout Southern Maryland, so this role is best suited for someone who is comfortable traveling to different job sites. Projects may also occasionally be located farther north, depending on the company's project schedule.

• Perform high-quality rough and finish carpentry on residential remodeling projects
• Take ownership of assigned field responsibilities and help keep projects on schedule
• Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications
• Identify problems, develop solutions, and communicate issues early
• Work closely with company leadership, team members, subcontractors, and other trades
• Help prepare and maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with homeowners
• Follow established company systems, processes, and quality standards
• Accept coaching and feedback and apply it to improve your work
• Continue developing your technical and leadership skills as you grow with the company

What We're Looking For

The right person is:

• A skilled carpenter with at least 5 years of professional carpentry experience
• Experienced in residential remodeling, renovation, or construction
• Comfortable with both rough and finish carpentry
• Dependable, responsible, and someone the team can count on
• Comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask questions
• Able to read construction drawings and solve problems in the field
• Detail-oriented and committed to quality workmanship
• Open to learning new methods and following established processes
• Receptive to coaching, feedback, and collaboration
• Interested in taking on greater responsibility and growing as a field leader

Qualifications
