Job summary

Safe Harbor Home Care in California seeks a Lead Caregiver to oversee caregiving teams, mentor peers, and ensure high-quality in-home support for seniors. You will coordinate daily living activities, assist with personal care, meals, mobility, and documentation, while supporting client comfort and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• California Home Care Aide (HCA) registration prior to client assignment.
• Current TB clearance.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and client confidentiality.
• Ability to pass required background check.
• 2 years of professional caregiving experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Caregivers perform all responsibilities of a Caregiver while mentoring and guiding the caregiving team.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Provide personal care and hygiene, food preparation, and bathing/dressing assistance.
• Support mobility, transfers, errands, and doctor appointments.
• Provide medication reminders and maintain client safety and comfort.
• Document caregiving activities accurately and on time; complete onboarding and training duties.

What You'll Do

Lead Caregivers perform all responsibilities of a Caregiver while also serving as a resource, mentor, and field leader for the caregiving team. Responsibilities may include:

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Personal care and hygiene
• Food preparation
• Bathing, grooming and dressing
• Errands and doctor appointments
• Medication Reminders
• Assist with walking, mobility and transfers
• Keep client's environment comfortable and tidy, assist with laundry
• Provide companionship and conversation
• Notice the little things and communicate changes to your care team
• Complete required caregiving documentation accurately and on time
• Fill urgent or last-minute shifts when necessary
• Conduct in-home caregiver orientations
• Provide hands-on caregiver training and support
• Assist with onboarding activities
• Serve as a field resource and subject matter expert for caregivers
• Support quality assurance initiatives
• Document incidents and participate in follow‑up activities
• Act as a liaison between caregivers and office staff
• Support continuity of care and client satisfaction

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid I-9 employment eligibility documentation
• California Home Care Aide (HCA) registration prior to client assignment
• Current TB clearance
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and client confidentiality
• Ability to pass required background check
• 2 years of professional caregiving experience
• Experience supporting clients with mobility challenges, dementia, chronic conditions, or hospice care
• Reliable attendance and strong communication skills
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem‑solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• CNA Certification
• HHA Certification
• Bilingual (Spanish/English or Tagalog/English)
