Job Requirements

Position Summary

The Lead Cardiovascular Sonographer is responsible for mentoring co-workers and students, managing daily workload, handling patient, associate, and equipment issues, and ensuring departmental standards are maintained. They are also accountable for achieving system and department goals, quality, and fiscal targets.

Primary Accountabilities

1. Fosters positive interdepartmental relationships, effective communication, and a professional, team-oriented environment.
2. Prioritizes and delegates tasks to optimize workflow; manages sonographer schedules.
3. Participates in quality initiatives, maintains IAC accreditation, and suggests departmental improvements.
4. Onboards new associates and precepts students.
5. Verifies patient identity before procedures.
6. Completes all documentation accurately.
7. Ensures all charges are correct for procedures and supplies.
8. Reviews exam orders prior to performing exams.
9. Performs procedures following standards and regulations, producing quality images.
10. Properly positions patients and administers medications within scope.
11. Practices aseptic techniques and maintains equipment hygiene.

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Graduate of a Sonography program, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, Noninvasive Cardiovascular Program, Bachelor's in Health Services, or an Associate’s in Health Sciences.
• Registries: Must hold two of the following: RVT, RVS, RDCS, RCS, RCCS.
• Certification: BLS Healthcare Provider card required before start date and must be maintained.
• Experience: Minimum two years in cardiovascular sonography.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, excellent communication, data interpretation, patient interaction, critical thinking, and flexibility for call and weekend shifts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physically active; may involve walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• May work in various environments, including confined spaces and outdoor settings.
• May need to travel between facilities and use personal vehicle.
